A perfect way to start the new year. A perfect day to
ride; a little cold in the morning, but the sun warmed and cleared
things up nicely by mid morning. I left Roseville at 7:00am in dense fog
and 29 degrees and headed to meet Tom, Paul and the gang at Starbucks in Napa. I headed to Napa via I-5, Hwy 13 and Hwy 128 (pictured below).
I hit a little black ice on Hwy 128 along Lake Berryessa and decided to
slow down and take the "slow way" to Napa.
The fog was bad and really
dense in a few places, but nothing that riding a little slower did not
solve. Even with some fog, black ice and cold, it only took about 90
minutes to arrive at Napa. My route was ~90 miles and I believe I only
seen two cars after I left I-5. I was alone on the road to Napa and it
was great.
I meet the
gang at Starbucks and after warming up, we headed to Alice's restaurant.
The ride down was smooth with no real traffic and while four of us
started in Napa, we picked up two riders along the way arriving in
Woodside with six riders (without stopping). Hwy 84 was a great 9 miles
of road - too bad other cars were in our way. :(
As with the
Blue Butt Rally
last year,
I had the pleasure of meeting some great folks (again) - thanks for having me.
