The Five Passes Ride this year was somewhat a repeat of previous years, with a few differences. By popular demand, Monitor Pass was included - twice and I'm glad it was. The group meet at Fresh Pond, a semi-new gas station on Hwy 50 to start the ride. The group lost Ray before we even started due to a flat tire (slow leak) so he limped his bike home.

The weather was perfect, the traffic extremely light and clean dry roads. A perfect day to ride.

Before heading over Monitor pass to the intersection of Hwy 395 (for a pit stop), we stopped at the Sierra Pines Country Store (right) that we also stopped at on the return trip to have lunch.

If we ride the same route next year, we might consider ordering our lunch on our first stop to avoid the 30 minute wait we experienced at lunch. Overall the food was good and the helpings large.
