Comments:
Mark (from San Diego) and I decided to go on a weekend
ride. After hours of debate, we decided to trailer the bikes from his
ho use to Mikes Sky Ranch. Mikes Sky Ranch is located about two hours off
Hwy 3 down a really bad dirt road (photo right).
Driving on this road was worse than any riding we did over the weekend. |
We stayed Friday night in
Ensenada Mexico thinking we
would get to Mikes early Saturday morning. Little did we know what was
ahead of us. After leaving early Saturday morning with a good McDonald's
breakfast, we ended up getting to Mikes mid afternoon due to the dirt
road we had to travel and the many obstacles such as wash-outs and
boulders.
Saturday afternoon we were able to get in some good riding
in somewhat wooded river valley and steep, brush-covered
mountains around Mikes Sky Ranch. It had rained for about two
solid weeks prior to our arrival, thus a lot of the smaller
streams were running full. The left over ran also provided some
great puddles to blow through (picture left).
Saturday night we had steak dinner and spent the evening just
looking at all the stars in the clear night sky. Without
interference from city lights, the sky was full of stars; a
sight not seen from a normal city
|
Sunday we spent the day riding and trying "short cuts"
that were mostly dead ends. Overall the weekend was a fabulous success
even having to travel on such a bad road to reach Mikes Sky Ranch.
