Title: XM (Garmin 2820) Antenna Installation
Last Updated:
Published Date: September 20, 2006

Problem:
To support my Garmin 2820 and the ability to receive XM (radio, traffic and weather), I purchased a Garmin GXM30 smart antenna. This antenna was pricy to say the least and did not include GPS reception, only XM. To increase my GPS reception, I purchased a Gibson antenna; details can be found here.

My Solution:
I mounted my antenna on the left side of my BMR Shelf since my V1 is mounted on the right side. While BMR products provides two sided Velcro for mounting accessories to its shelf, I always use small plastic zip ties for added security. To use the plastic zip ties I drilled small holes in the shelf that allows the zip ties to tightly secure the antenna to the shelf in addition to the Velcro.
